At that time, the location is sent to iCloud and you can see it on a map from the Find app. Data are anonymous and encrypted, so your privacy is guaranteed.

You can put your AirTag in Lost Mode, just like you do with any other Apple device. So, as soon as a network device detects it, you receive a notification automatically. It is also possible to configure it so that someone knows how to contact you by touching the AirTag with a smartphone with NFC technology, the same one used to pay from the phone.

The AirTag is designed to discourage unwanted tracking. If someone else's AirTag flies between your stuff, your iPhone will notice and send you an alert. After a while, if you haven't found it, the AirTag will start broadcasting a sound so you know where it is.

And of course, this won't happen to you if, for example, you go on a subway and there are other people who wear an AirTag or if you've met someone who has one, because alerts only get activated when the AirTag separates from their owner.

The AirTag is designed to operate more than a year with a standard battery that you can easily replace and recycle. Your iPhone will tell you when it's time to change it.
